Road Test

If you’ve read this blog in the past you’ll know I am a victim of self-induced butchered brows, and over the years I’ve searched far and wide for products to correct the problem of over plucking and poor shaping. What’s available to help improve the look of your brows today ranges from short term tattooing creams to brow powders; it’s not all about eyebrow pencils anymore. In a busy cosmetics market, however, you still need to sift out the good from the bad in terms of what works well. And for travellers, you’ll want to pack something which does what it promises without the need for multiple products. Benefit Cosmetics introduced Brow Styler in September, and like all their product launches there was a certain amount of anticipation and hype surrounding it. And in good news for Benefit fans, and anyone with brows in need of help, this nifty 2-in-1 styler is worth the hype - and the splurge. Brow Styler is a dual-ended brow multitasker, with a waterproof wax-pencil at one end, and a loose filling powder dispenser at the other. And the benefit of this is, if you’ll excuse the pun, is that in a single product can perfectly sculpt your brows using the wax pencil’s chiselled tip, or build soft and full looking brows with the loose powder using its mess-free and precise angled applicator. A third option is to layer the two for bold and defined brows; the powder is the most pigmented, so Benefit recommends you apply it first, and then fill in and define with the wax pencil. Either way using the styler is easy, and it makes for fast, great looking brows. When using the pencil end, simply use flicking motions over your real brows to get realistic looking hairs, focussing on spares areas. Go light at first, intensifying from there if need be, and make sure you buff any harsh lines. The same goes with the powder; a little goes a long way and make sure you blend properly.

Beauty In Travel Loves

  • The gorgeous design of the brow styler.
  • Whichever end of the styler you choose, you get a great result.
  • Both the pencil and the powder are long wearing, which is great news for travellers.

Insider Tips

  • Choose your colour carefully, going one shade lighter than you think unless you have very dark brows.
  • When styling brows, don’t over extend the tails with either product as it can create a droopy effect.
