Cathay Pacific Airways has opened The Bridge, the airline’s sixth passenger lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), following nine months of construction. It was designed by world-renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners to design The Bridge with the aim of creating an “ideal home atmosphere” for guests before their flight.
The Bridge is the latest lounge after The Wing, in 1998, The Pier in 2001, The Arrival in 2008 and The Cabin in 2010. Along with Dragonair’s G16 lounge the Cathay Pacific Group now operates a total of six lounges at the Hong Kong International Airport, spanning 13,000 square metres.
Location:
The newly opened 2,567-square-metre lounge is on Level 5 of the West Concourse at HKIA, near Gate 35, and promises First and Business Class passengers "an inviting environment of understated luxury".
Facilities:
The Bridge consists of North and South wings, each extending from the central Reception area. The reception area itself features an impressive luminous reception wall, made of Venetian glass tiles by Fabbian of Italy.
The Lounge has a warm and natural colour palette throughout the interior to create a comfortable and cosy atmosphere with soft side lighting and comfortable lounge chairs scattered throughout. Even when it’s busy, it’s possible to find a quiet and comfortable nook as an antidote to the usual airport hustle and bustle.
The North Wing features The Bakery, which offers freshly baked bread and pizzas, as well as sandwiches, pastries, Asian and Western soups, and fresh salads. The North Wing also features the airline’s iconic Long Bar together with a television lounge and general seating area. The Long Bar offers a wide range of drinks, canapés, and hot and cold tapas and you can sit at the bar and enjoy the view across the airport.
The South Wing features The Bistro, a self-service area where passengers can enjoy a variety of high-quality Asian and Western hot dishes and cold food selections, including delicious desserts and light leafy salads. The Coffee Loft is where you’ll find freshly brewed coffee and specialty tea, accompanied by freshly baked muffins, pastries and cookies.
The nine Shower Suites located in the South Wing are furnished with natural Travertine stone, complemented by oak slat walls. Each of the suites features a spacious shower, providing a calm, relaxing and private sanctuary in which passengers can freshen up before their journey.
The Lowdown:
As soon as you arrive at the reception, you know you’re in a CX lounge with immaculately presented staff, marble benches and backlit walls and the layout, facilities and furnishings make this one of the best business class lounges in the world.
The Bridge is open to First and Business Class passengers, Silver or above Marco Polo Club members, and Sapphire or above oneworld members departing or transiting in Hong Kong. Opening hours are from 5:30am until the last departure.
