The Space
COMO Uma Ubud hails from the stable of Christina Ong, revered for her unique collection of hotels from London and Miami to the Maldives and Bhutan. This intimate, luxury boutique resort exudes the charm of an Indonesian village, its rooms, suites and villas overlooking a magnificent lush valley just outside Bali’s cultural capital. An oasis in the hubbub of busy Ubud, if it’s smiles and warmth you’ve come for, there are ample to be found here. The staff is the most charming, helpful and genuinely hospitable I’ve ever encountered – each person remembering your name, the way you like your coffee, even your drink of choice and preferred position around the sparkling, sleek, infinity pool. No request is too much and every whim is attended to promptly to ensure maximum relaxation and the ultimate holiday experience.
Where We Stayed
Our home for a superb week-long stay was in one of the eight Uma Pool Villas that feature a private swimming pool and a sprawling timber sundeck furnished with a relaxing daybed. Inside our spacious, bright and airy, thatched-roof haven, the bedroom boasts an extremely comfortable king-size bed draped in crisp white linens, with a selection of pillows depending on whether you like them hard or soft. The bright and clean bathroom comes equipped with lavish bathrobes, slippers and luxuriously thick towels, double vanity units, an oversized shower, a large freestanding bath and a jungle style outdoor shower. Bathroom amenities are plentiful and of the highest French quality. So comfortable were we in the room itself that often the temptation to stay in led us to order from the delicious room service menu and recline either on the lounge or in bed and simply watch a movie on the large flat screen.
