Road Test
Last week I wrote about a new, gentle and highly effective way to tackle the problem of hyperpigmentation using Evidence Skin Care’s Enlighten Serum (you can read about it here), and while road testing it ESK recommended that I pair it with one of its nurturing serums, B Calm. A light, soothing moisturising cream, B Calm is designed especially for skins which are sensitive, oily or acne prone. The hero ingredient is five per cent vitamin B3, a terrific multitasker which can help to manage the skin’s natural oil production, improve acne and rosacea-symptoms, and boost the skin’s barrier function, reducing hyperpigmentation and acting as an anti-inflammatory agent. And in additional good news, there’s also evidence that vitamin B3 can help reduce non-melanoma skin cancers. In my case it was added to my routine as my skin is more mature, and can sometimes have a tendency towards being sensitive to some skincare products and ingredients. Using B Calm is easy; for regular use all you need to do is simply apply two or three pumps to the skin before your sun screen in the morning. In my road test, however, I used it after Enlighten twice a day, both in the morning and at night. It has a lovely, velvety formula which melts into the skin, leaving it soft, smooth and soothed, and during my six week road test I experienced no skin irritation whatsoever. As mentioned in my review for Enlighten, which started to improve the condition of my skin after just a few weeks, my complexion grew more even, some of the darker sun spots looked less prominent, and overall my skin looked brighter as well as feeling smoother and softer. And whether you are using B Calm as part of your plan to reduce hyperpigmentation, or you are prone to sensitivity, acne or rosacea, travellers especially will love this soothing cream which is easy to work into your daily beauty regime at home or on holiday.

Insider Tips
- B Calm is a wonderful product to use as a quick mask if your skin is feeling stressed, such as after a long haul flight or if you have travelled and changed climates. Simply apply a decent layer to cleansed skin before you go to bed, leave on for five or 10 minutes, massage the rest into the skin and apply a soothing, hydrating moisturiser. Overnight the B3 in the formula will ease any dryness or irritation.
