If you are true music lover, then you'll no doubt be picky about how you listen to it. While tiny bud earphones are all the rage, and come as standard with many devices including iPhones and iPods, for some music enthusiasts nothing quite beats a set of over the ear headphones.
According to the electronics brand Griffin, fine violins, classic guitars and grand pianos are never made out of plastic; they're made from wood because they simply sound better. As a result they launched Griffin WoodTones, over-the-ear headphones which not only sound amazing, but are also extremely comfortable and also look pretty cool.
Among the phones many features are wooden housings to enhance voice and bass, over 90-degree pivoting earphones, and they're one-size-fits-all so no need for his and hers sets. The key to the sound, however, is the wood. Although the phones are standard in design, the wood and large 50mm drivers contribute to the sound's warmth. It's also well balanced, with the bass rich without being too heavy, and the treble silky without being too bright.
Griffin WoodTones cost rrp $99.99, and come in three finishes including beech, sapele and walnut. Available from various outlets including www.griffintechnology.com.
