Road Test

Just recently I watched a US television news feature which told the story of how Korean skin care, dubbed “K-beauty”, has followed K-pop (Korean pop music) and Korean soap operas in taking Western countries by storm. If you aren’t familiar with Korean beauty products, they are usually characterised by several things; affordable prices, whimsical packaging, innovative formulas, and unusual ingredients. The focus is always on skin care as a ritual, with the Korean ethos, even from a young age, to ensure that you have good skin, rather than needing too much makeup and other products to cover up blemishes.

Recently, the Korean brand Haruharu launched the WONDER range in Australia, which is as unique as the packaging it comes in. Inspired by reusable coffee cups, it embraces the idea that just as a cappuccino, a latte, or an espresso gives us a personalised coffee hit, the WONDER range consists of four products, delivering a custom shot of skincare goodness while tacking different key skin issues. The packaging alone has won numerous awards for good reason; each moisturiser comes in a different coloured, adorable container which resembles a coffee mug, complete with a spatula to apply to the skin. And if you’re a regular traveller, there are also tubes of the same moisturisers available.

The WONDER range consists of four different products, and two I got to road test include WONDER Honey Green Repairative Cream and WONDER Honey Green Aqua Bomb. The first product contains extracts of fermented green tea and honey, known for anti-inflammatory effects, and which helps to repair damaged skin, as well as revitalise the skin’s appearance. Meanwhile the WONDER Honey Green Aqua Bomb promises deep moisturising and intense hydration. It also contains fermented green tea and honey, along with hyaluronic acid, and is particularly good for travellers after long haul flights to combat dryness and dehydration due to climate changes. Both products are lightweight and silky smooth, and glide on easily absorbing into the skin.

Beauty In Travel Loves

  • This skin care line is 95 per cent natural, cruelty free, paraben free, chemical free and contains no artificial fragrances or colours.
  • The products are dermatologist and skin irritation tested.
  • The creams are simple and convenient to use.
  • The squeeze tube packaging makes it easy to dispense and use the cream, and it’s perfect for travellers.

Insider Tips

  • If you buy a tub of moisturiser, after finishing the product you can reuse the tub for a variety of functions, including to store jewellery or trinkets.
  • The WONDER Honey Green Aqua Bomb can also be used as an emergency hydrating mask. Apply a thicker layer to the skin and leave on for twenty minutes before rubbing the excess in removing with a tissue.

    Korea Rocks!

Posted by Tegan on 9th Dec 2019

My BFF's family is originally from Korea and she's been raving about skin care for ages. I had no idea it was affordable assumed it would like SK2 and such, and expensive!
