Road Test
Living in Australia can be rough on your complexion, but add the heat and humidity of southeastern Queensland and your skin can find itself in a state of flux - especially in summer. While I’m a big fan of facial oils, they are largely too heavy to use during the humid months, especially in the morning. My top choice then is usually an aloe vera gel, but I am always on the lookout for something even more hydrating and which can pack an anti-ageing punch as well. If you haven’t heard of HERBS+HEART, it’s a local brand which produces a small lineup of top notch skin care products. Besides being 100 per cent natural, they're also earth conscious with no testing on animals, no chemicals involved, and as I have discovered reviewing a number of products, promises are honoured. Cell Gel is the latest product I’ve tested, a multipurpose hydrating, after sun gel-cream which combines cucumber, neroli, and rosehip to help soothe skin which is stressed during summer months. Cell Gel plays a vital role in healing the skin barrier which has been exposed to sun, reinforcing the cells natural ability of sun protection. And when you protect the skin from the sun, you’re working to avoid a lineup of potential skin problems including wrinkles, discolouration and poor texture, all of which are signs of ageing. The gel-cream has a water based formula which which allows skin to breathe and release heat, while also acting as a powerful humectant for sun damaged and sensitive skin by drawing moisture from the environment to nourish and reinforce the skin’s natural hydration barrier. It’s rich in vitamins B5, C and K with the addition of cucumber, which cools and works on hyperpigmentation, anti-ageing neroli, which is packed with antioxidants and soothes redness, and rose hip which enhances skin elasticity by nourishing it with essential fatty acids including omegas 3, 6 and 9. Using Cell Gel is easy, just apply one pump of the gel-cream to your fingertips and spread evenly onto clean skin. Leave for a couple of minutes to absorb fully, and you are ready to go!
