Road Test
Mud masks are nothing new in the world of beauty. The Egyptians used to enjoy mud baths, as do the Japanese today, and the Indians have long used mud to make face packs and treat their skin. And having been buried in hot volcanic mud in Japan a few years ago, I can confirm first hand that it cleanses and soothes the skin. So when I heard about the new Face Mud by HERBS+HEART I had to try it. And the good news for lovers of natural beauty products, and anyone who is time poor, is that it works. If you haven’t heard of HERBS+HEART, it’s a brand with small lineup of top notch skin care products, all of which are 100 per cent natural and earth conscious. There’s no testing on animals, no chemicals involved, and as I discovered with the Face Mud, promises are honoured. In fact, I’d go as far as to say Face Mud is a new cult must-have! It's designed to gently exfoliate and remove embedded dirt, whilst also delivering a deep nourishment and hydration, and the reason it works is the formula, which is blended with Manuka Honey, Orange Peel and Sandalwood. Manuka Honey draws out impurities in the skin, and offers anti-ageing benefits through its B vitamins and amino acids, while the Sandalwood and Orange Peel gently exfoliate and deliver a hit of vitamin C, sloughing off dead skin cells to reveal bright, glowing skin. And for added hydration there’s Coconut, Aloe Vera and Apricot. Using the product is super easy. Simply wet your skin with tepid water, then take a small scoop of the mud and rub between your hands with water. The rubbery texture of the earthy black mud softens into a paste which you apply to the skin, massaging gently (although avoiding the eye area). After a minute or so, rinse the mud off, and your skin is left glowing.
