Hotel Villa Flori is a premium hotel located on the western side of Lake Como, between Como and Cernobbio, offering a charming and affordable luxury experience of Northern Italy. Here’s why.
- Location: 15 minutes from Lake Como, and just one hour from Milan.
- Accommodations: There is a wide choice of accommodations ranging from simple Standard and Classic Rooms, through to Junior Suites with full-sized bathtubs. The impressive Gran Lago Suite is located on the waterfront, and comes with two double rooms, a fully equipped kitchen and living area, as well as a large wraparound terrace and private gardens.
- Dining options: The onsite restaurant, Raimondi is one of the few hotel restaurants you should visit if staying in Lake Como. Headed up by Chef Marco, who has cooked for the likes of Robert De Niro, George Clooney and other celebrities, it has a gorgeous terrace with views of the lake, and delicious food with a focus on Italian classics done well. Think beef tartare, truffle ravioli and of course, classic risotto with squid.
- What else is there: Hotel Villa Flori has a small gym with views, and a mini-spa featuring a sauna, a Turkish bath, and a sunroom overlooking the lake.
- What’s nearby: Hotel Villa Flori has an enviable location just south of Lake Como. On foot, you can walk towards Tavernola station and hop on the ferry, which takes you straight to Lake Como city centre, as well as connecting travellers to all the other wonderful destinations surrounding the lake including Bellagio and Gravedona.
- Why go: It’s affordable luxury on stunning Lake Como with gorgeous views, ideal for a romantic getaway.
The Space
Lake Como is famous for its celebrities and high-profile clientele and Hotel Villa Flori adds to this charm with its prime location and excellent views of the lake. The 19th century villa, complete with original frescoes, is well preserved yet timely with its period furniture and typical Italian art-deco like nouveau furnishings and marble bathrooms. The Raimondi Restaurant is one of the best dining experiences in the region, offering panoramic dining on the lake with excellent service by the entire wait-staff. The sommelier is also well worth chatting to – thanks Sal!
Where We Stayed
Our home for our visit was a cozy Classic Room, which range in size from 15-18 square metres, coming with a comfy queen sized bed (a twin setup is an option) and a simple, elegant decor featuring lacquered furniture and a petite balcony. Amenities included a mini-fridge, a safe, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a flat screen TV, however, you’re more likely to spend time looking outside from your balcony, or exploring, rather than watching the news. The modern marble bathroom was equipped with Etro toiletries.
