Road Test
I have to stick up my hand here and admit I’m a lavender addict for a number of reasons. Besides having always loved the smell, the fragrance of lavender is believed to have many health benefits from promoting calmness and wellness, to helping reduce stress and anxiety. Indeed, today there’s hardly a household, grooming or wellness product that hasn’t been infused with lavender’s sweet, clean aroma from candles and diffusers, to shower gels, face mists, eye masks and more. There’s also something special about walking through a field of lavender too, which I’ve been fortunate to do in a number of countries including in Somerset, England. During the peak northern hemisphere summer month, the swathes of purple on a hot, sunny day are something to behold. When it comes to fragrance, lavender is mostly used in women’s scents, although it turns up in men’s and gender neutral products too, working well alongside aromatic ingredients including pine, patchouli, bergamot, neroli and orange blossom. Embracing a newfound desire for lavender, Jo Malone London has recently launched a limited edition collection of three colognes available in decorative 30ml bottles offering a fresh perspective of the iconic ingredient. The colognes include Wisteria & Lavender, Silver Birch & Lavender, and Lavender & Coriander. The fragrance I got to sample was Silver Birch & Lavender. The bottle is petite as well as cute, and you can forget any memories of your grandma’s lavender. Although cool, iconic lavender dominates the middle notes, the base notes are a combination of silver birch and roasted oak, while the top note is a citrusy squeeze of grapefruit. This wonderful cologne is very sophisticated and quite complex. I found it slightly more masculine than feminine, albeit with a certain softness, but it was also fresh, warm and very alluring. And I simply love it.
Beauty In Travel Loves
- The cologne smells lovely, and is wonderfully calming.
- It’s long lasting without being too heavy.
- The bottle is small and ideal for travellers.
- It’s gender neutral, working for both her and him.
Insider Tips
- Apply any fragrance to the creases of your knees and elbows for a longer-lasting, stronger scent.
- After applying, avoid rubbing or dabbing skin as it breaks down the fragrance, and makes it wear off more quickly.
- If you like wearing fragrance on your wrists, be sure to reapply after frequent hand-washing as it tends to rinse off the scent.

Expensive But Such Great Quality
I've been a JM devotee for years ever since I received an outrageously expensive candle for a birthday pressie from a friend. I have used the diffusers in my home, and started using the personal colognes a few years ago. They are expensive but top quality, and long lasting. One spritz of the cologne lasts ALL day!

Lot Of Money But Worth It
I practice yoga and use a lot of lavender essential oil. I thought a fragrance like this would be gentler...I bought the one with Wisteria. It's more subtle than just the oil and smells divine. I reckon I'll go through it very quickly though, and am marking it down a star for being so pricey.

Granny Perfume
Lavender always reminds me of old ladies. Not sure I would ever wear it especially at this price!
