Road Test
I have to confess I have a bit of an obsession with facial oils, but I live in southeastern Queensland, and while I use one twice a day during the cooler months, when it’s hot and humid I use it only at night, if at all. When I was reading up about Lumity Facial Oil, however, a number of things caught my eye. For one, the woman behind Meghan Markle’s glowing complexion swears by the stuff. Facialist Nichola Joss, who boasts a celebrity client list including Cate Blanchett, Elle Macpherson and Scarlett Johansson, says of Lumity: “It’s versatile and easy to use and absorbs fully into the skin leaving no stickiness or residue – just bouncy fresh skin, so they can apply makeup or go makeup free with nude skin! It adds vitality and life to skin, helping to re-balance the surface and gives a really fresh look.” Admittedly I’m not easily swayed by celebrity opinion on anything, so what else made me take a second look? Lumity is based on good science; it was created in the UK by Dr. Sara Palmer Hussey, a Cambridge-educated PhD and research scientist, and an expert on ageing. The facial oil is a blend of 32 natural ingredients, including nourishing plant oils, skin-loving extracts and therapeutic essential oils. Just a few of the hero ingredients include effective botanical oils including passion flower seed oil and marula oil, active plant extracts including green coffee seed oil and green tea leaf extract, and therapeutic essential oils including vetiver. To complement the facial oil there are two sets of tablets which you take day and night (three of each). The coffee-coloured tablets are to be taken in the morning, and contain a mix of Vitamins A, B, E and C, selenium, turmeric root extract and flaxseed oil for healthy skin. In the evening you take the white ones, packed with potent amino acids designed to help you sleep better and live longer, as well as provide nutrients to help your skin renew overnight. Lumity Facial Oil promises visible results including decreased redness, smoother skin, restored elasticity and firmness, more radiance and clarity, while the supplements supplement claim to fight the major causes of while helping to revitalise skin, hair, nails, bones and energy. They don’t come cheap, however, so are they worth the outlay? In short, the answer is a definite yes. I used the facial oil exclusively for nearly four weeks, and quite quickly noticed that my skin looked plumper and felt bouncier, especially in the mornings, and even after a bad night’s sleep or a weekend of overindulgence. As for the supplements, I took a full month’s supply, day and night as instructed, and perhaps they had a hand in how boosted my skin looked too.
Beauty In Travel Loves
- The oil isn’t too heavy and it soaks into the skin well - a little also goes a long way.
- It has an earthy, slightly citrusy aroma.
- Lumity supplements are free from binding agents, coatings, fillers, anti-caking agents, preservatives and flavourings.
- Both products are ideal for travellers - the facial oil is a complete skincare solution, while the supplements come lightweight containers.
Insider Tips
- The skin’s own oil production decreases as we age, so a top notch oil such as Lumity can provide the perfect replenishment.
