Road Test

Natural skincare has come a long way in the past decade, with more products to choose from which actually do what they promise. And there are good reasons why more women are turning to them, from skin sensitivity to allergic reactions, and a desire to reduce the use of chemicals on their skin. Mere is an Australian brand which has come under the spotlight in recent years. It formulates high-performance products which work with the skin’s natural ecosystem, using biocompatible ingredients which are believed to penetrate the skin’s superficial layer and work on a deeper level to deliver longer-lasting results. I was recently sent three products to road test, and was impressed with them all for a variety of reasons. The A Collagen + C Skin Kick Biomimetic Dermal Serum Vaccine is a weightless, yet powerful time-release serum designed to “inject” an ultimate dose of collagen and vitamin C to hydrate and revitalise dull skin. Key ingredients include seadermium, a natural filler which plumps up deep wrinkles and restores elasticity to the skin, Persian Silk & Holy Herb Complex, which improves skin tone and lifts the skin, and camelia oil, to facilitate deep penetration of the serum into the deepest layers of the skin. This serum can be used morning and night, after cleansing and before moisturising.

A great companion to the serum, and ideal for travellers, is Ionic Dermal Corrective Toner. This super charged toning mist boosts skin while also protecting it from air-pollution and dryness. Key ingredients in the formula include hyaluronic acid, a hydration hero which also gives the skin a healthy, dewy look, and Australian snowflower, a potent antioxidant which helps to stimulate cell renewal. There’s also superoxide dismutase, a botanically derived and effective tool in the fight against premature ageing and pigmentation, as well as protecting the skin against daily UV and pollution exposure. This toner can be used night and day before the serum. The third product which travellers especially should put on their list to try is Bio Repair Night Guardian Mask. This lovely water-gel mask boosts the skin brilliantly, especially after a long haul flight or a day at the beach, and is formulated with key ingredients including riboxyl to increase collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production, and desert harvest AF, a complex of three Australian exotic fruits rich in natural acids to nourish and brighten the skin. Other ingredients of note include prickly pear oil, which is rich in vitamin E and great for overall skin health, and flame tree extract, which also helps to boost collagen production. To use, simply apply a generous layer to cleansed, damp skin, leave on overnight and rinse off in the morning.

Beauty In Travel Loves

  • The products are 100 per cent vegan, and formulated with organic ingredients.
  • They come in biophotonic glass bottles which selectively filter damaging light rays and protect the contents.
  • The products are not tested on animals.

Insider Tips

  • Applying the serum to a slightly damp skin helps it to absorb better, so mist the skin with toner before applying.
  • The toner can also be used on long haul flights as a hydration booster for the skin.
  • If you don’t have time to leave the mask on overnight, apply for 20 minutes to give your skin a visible boost.

Never heard of Mere but the prices are reasonable if they are that high end. Might try.
