Type a description for this product here...Well, we had an enforced sea day yesterday because of big surf off the coast of Biarritz which meant the decision was made to abandon any hope of using the tender service to get us to shore in the local port of St Jean de Luz.
Today, we had the choice of an excursion to the Medoc Vineyards and then into the city of Bordeaux but some of the local French crew insisted we head into the nearby local town of Soulac-sur-Mer which is holding its annual festival called Soulac 1900 which is something of a trip down memory lane to a bygone era. This quaint little seaside town really turned on the charm and it turned out to be an inspired choice.
It's one of those really unique European experiences … locals dressed up in clothing from the turn of the previous century and really enjoying what was a beautiful day out. There was classic outfits, classic cars, circus performers, a market, a fun fair and mostly lots of people really getting into the spirit of the festival.
Anyway tomorrow it's La Rochelle, and it looks like being another of those classic seaside towns which doubles up as a fishing port so really looking forward to it.
Shall do some ship shots before we head in .. sorry about the delay for those who've asked for them!
