Road Test

Although I love the luxury of having a professional salon facial every once in a while, work and travel commitments frequently have an impact on my free time, making at-home or on-the-go facials a necessity. For that reason, I always have a number of products on hand depending on my skin’s needs. A good quality deep cleanser and a gentle exfoliator is a must for every facial, but when it comes to masks some of the products I have in my bathroom have an anti-ageing focus, brighten or even the complexion, or especially for travelling, they hydrate. The luxury skin care brand Peter Thomas Roth has a fabulous new gel mask which not only smells delicious but ticks more than one box when it comes to boosting the skin, making it particularly great for travellers. It has been formulated with five rose plant stem cells - rose commiphora, desert rose, damas rose, pale rose, and white rose - and blended with four rose extracts - rosa damascena, rosa canina, rose hip seed, and rose water - all of which come together to create a cooling gel designed to invigorate and improve the look of your skin. The gel mask promises to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dehydration, dullness, and sagging, while strengthening the skin with radiance and youthfulness. For my road test, it had been a week since my last home facial and, after cleansing and exfoliating I applied a layer to my skin, I relaxed for 10 minutes as recommended, and I rinsed off the excess with cool water. During a southeastern Queensland summer, my skin often gets a tad dehydrated, but after using this luxurious gel mask it felt supple and rehydrated, it was glowing, and fine lines were visibly softened. The second time I used the mask, before going out for the evening, I refrigerated it for an hour beforehand, and left it on for nearly 30 minutes while meditating. Not only was my skin wonderfully soothed after a hot day, but the results were even more dramatic.

Insider Tips

  • For a more intensive treatment, refrigerate the gel and apply as a mask, or apply a thin layer of the gel after completing your skincare routine and leave on overnight as you sleep.
