Road Test
If you read this blog often enough you’ll know that I’ve had a problem with dark circles beneath my eyes for years. I’ve had them since my teens, even while following a healthy diet with plenty of exercise, and have found that travel, late nights, and working too hard without enough sleep have always made them appear worse. As a result, I’ve become a bit of a concealer addict over the years. I’ve tried many products from inexpensive supermarket brands to expensive luxury ones, but finding something which covers the darkness up while also doing the delicate under-eye area good has been hit and miss. When I read about this new dedicated eye primer from Peter Thomas Roth - Skin To Die For Darkness-Reducing Under-Eye Treatment Primer - my curiosity was naturally piqued. Besides having a long name, essentially it’s a cream which helps to reduce the look of darkness, puffiness, and other signs of ageing while also priming your skin for makeup. The cream has a lineup of ingredients to do this: the peptide Haloxyl™ in two per cent strength combined with Vitamin K1 helps to visibly diminish the look of darkness; caffeine and green coffee extract soften the appearance of eye bags; and finally hydrolysed collagen helps improve the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and crow's feet. Also in the formula is light-scattering diamond powder which helps to diffuse the look of imperfections and create a smooth finish, along with a subtle universal tint which blends into all skin tones. Putting the primer to the test I first used it alone, and while it did lighten my dark circles a little bit I still needed to use a concealer on top. That said, my dark circles are extremely challenging to say the least. Under makeup, however, the primer was fabulous. My eyes looked smoother, softer and the product was wonderfully long lasting and prevented my concealer from creasing. If your dark circles aren’t too bad you’ll likely get away with using this under-eye primer on its own. For everyone, it’s a beautiful primer to use under makeup which will add a touch of youthfulness to your eye area.
