Motorola’s moto g family has been hugely popular in the smartphone market and its moto g6 model has been dramatically improved from the moto g5s from 2017.

What is it: This is a smartphone with lots of great features and battery power that lasts all day.

Why buy: At this price, it’s widely regarded as one of the best smartphones around.

The details: RRP AU$399 from Motorola

Road Test:

With its 5.7 inch display, it’s slightly smaller than its beefed up sister product, the moto g6 plus, but it is bright and clear like the plus and also features a sleek and elegant glass design with a 3D contoured back for a comfortable grip (like the moto g6 plus) and it feels sleek and remarkably light in your hand.

This phone has lots of really good features and is set to cement Motorola’s reputation as the best producer of affordable smartphones which pack a punch.

Its ultra-wide 18:9 display ratio, which provides edge to edge Full HD+ Max Vision Display, is a similar feature on some of the top-end phones and it has a few other firsts for this range with a dual-sensor camera on the rear and additional features and functions you’d expect from the more expensive phones.

The Moto G6 Plus has a 3000 mAh battery which promises to last all day with super fast recharging in just minutes and it does deliver on its promise of fast streaming for apps, games and videos thanks to its advanced processor and powerful graphics capabilities.

Its advanced imaging software is a lot of fun to work with and allows a lot of creativity to produce all sorts of effects and improved image quality.

One of its coolest features is its timelapse video function which looks really professional and you can also spot colour and do selective black and white to push the boundaries of creativity. And for the army of selfie-mad shutterbugs, there’s a good wide angle function which really makes the job a whole lot easier, along with a range of filters that range from flattering to fun.

UltimateTravelMagazine.com loves:

  • The edge to edge display which is high quality
  • Some really cool camera and editing features
  • The price!

The verdict:

This looks and performs like a high end smartphone, and like the moto g6 plus, it’s a product that is designed to take on Apple’s iPhone with its serious leap in tech and features from 2017.
