Originally making its name as a party town where you leave what happens behind at the end of the trip, Las Vegas has emerged over the past decade as a mecca for ultimate indulgence and high end luxury in accommodation, and spa facilities if you know where to look.

The Space

The Sahra Spa and Hammam is one of the most luxurious spa facilities on the Las Vegas Strip, and certainly the Hammam, one of only a few in the world, gives it an edge over other high end spa offerings. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of the desert, the decor features canyon-like walls with veins of silver thread running throughout, and floors made from real sandstone. Silver ceilings mimic nights lit by moon and stars. Long, dramatic hallways lead you through to the serenity lounge, where falling waters are your background music; the monsoon cave with warm rains; and the steam room with a cool micromist. The treatment rooms are dimly lit with lighting reminiscent of a flickering fire, with desert colouring and subtle, earthy tones used throughout. Towels, robes and slippers are all ultra plush and the typical spa snow white.

The Treatment

Hammam services include the Red Flower Hammam experience, which starts by lying on the warm stone. You are given time to bask in the heat of the stone surface and the warm air before basins of water are poured over your body, emulating relaxing waves that cleanse the skin. Drawing from the desert again, eleven flower oils and fruit essences are used to release an intense scent with therapeutic healing properties. A vigorous scrub is performed followed by a purifying Jasmine Rose Rhassoul Clay and Cardamom Amber Oil application. The Hammam Soap Ritual treatment includes a body buff using a traditional Turkish Kese Mitt, followed by a detoxifying steam and moisturizer. Another key focus of the spas treatment offering is anti ageing. I also tried the Decadent Youth Glow Facial, an 80 minute treatment exclusive to Sahra Spa and Hammam. Hailed a ‘revolutionary Ultimate Age Reversal’ treatment, three of the industry's most coveted technologies – HydraFacial™, Intraceuticals and NuFace Microcurrent are used in the one session. It begins with exfoliation and infusion of Hydrafacial™ serums, and massaging of the face and neck areas throughout. The treatment finishes with an infusion of anti-aging ingredients delivered through hyperbaric oxygen.
