I’ve said this many times before but Samsonite is one of my favourite luggage brands, for a variety of reasons which go beyond innovative design and durability. Every luggage set I’ve ever owned has given us many years of heavy duty, frequent travelling service; one set in particular went around the world several times, and was loaded on to many flights and cruise ships, as well as hauled in rental cars. This time Samsonite has taken the much-loved Cosmolite collection, relaunching it recently as the Cosmopolite 3.0 with improved design features and no shortage of style. I was sent a 75cm in Copper Blush to review, which is ideal for long haul travel with its generous proportions.

This popular suitcase is now 200 grams lighter, and made from 100 per cent Curv technology, using materials which makes it not only incredibly lightweight - the entry level 55cm suitcase weighs an incredible 1.7kg empty - but also impact resistant. The 75cm case dimensions are 75 x 51 x 31cms and it has a volume of 94L. Other features include impressive manoeuvrability, thanks to four durable spinner wheels which allow the case to turn 360 degrees either way at the push of a finger, wheeled upright, or wheeled while tilted. The case also has a bottom grip if you need to lift your suitcase while travelling, a practical divider pad inside, along with functional elastic cross ribbons to keep your possessions in place, and a lightweight, fully integrated pull handle.

For security there is a recessed, fixed 3 point TSA combination lock, which means no external locks are required, and there’s no need to worry about the TSA needing to break into your case to examine its contents. And as with all Samsonite cases, it comes with a generous 10 year global warranty. The Cosmolite 3.0 collection comes in two colours, Copper Blush and Midnight Blue, and there are five sizes and prices to choose from including a Beauty Case, a 55cm suitcase a 69cm suitcase, a 75cm suitcase, and an 81cm suitcase.

The Verdict:

This is a truly elegant and lightweight suitcase aimed at stylish travellers who enjoy looks, luxury and added security, and is a suitcase which is light and easy to move around.
