Road Test

If someone had told me a month ago that I’d be washing my face with a soap costing $100, I’d have fell about laughing. More importantly, if they’d added that I would see genuine results in my complexion within days, I’d have said they were nuts. But welcome to Sassou Japan skin care, a brand which cleverly merges traditional Japanese skincare practices and ingredients with cutting edge technological research. The Gold Beauty Cleansing Bar is just one of a lineup of innovative products from the Goldwaver collection, and from the two I’ve tested, they work. I’ll report on the Gold Shimmering Essence Toner in a couple of weeks, but once I saw the Beauty Bar I had to try it immediately. Okay, so I still get excited about trying new beauty products, but I’m also a fan of specialist facial beauty bars and Japanese skin care, which in my humble opinion is known for their high quality ingredients, functionality and effectiveness, while also having a big focus on promoting skin clarity and luminance. The Gold Beauty Cleansing Bar is eye catching, literally a round bar of transparent gold, dotted with flecks of 24k gold leaf. Gold is a key ingredient; as studies in gold appear to show, the wavelengths at which negative ions are released are similar to that of the human body, allowing gold to reinvigorate cellular bioelectric currents which weaken as a result of ageing. So how does it work in skin care? As a heat conducting metal, gold actively draws heat to the skin’s surface upon application and stimulates blood flow and circulation. This helps to rejuvenate cellular structures in the skin by stimulating collagen production, improving elasticity, and increasing skin cell metabolism, which includes the secretion of toxins. What you’re left with is a complexion which not only looks healthy and nourished, but is also youthful and radiant. I don’t usually have a reason to wash my face in mid-afternoon but that’s when I tested the Gold Beauty Bar for the first time. Using a special net to create foam, you simply apply it to your skin with your finger tips and massage gently for 15-30 seconds, then remove with warm water. Besides the gold, which detoxes and whitens the skin, other ingredients include Arnica Montana Flower Extract, which reduces inflammation and ease acne and other skin disorders, also Lamium Album Flower Extract for its soothing properties, and honey to repair skin damage and hydrate. After using it, my skin felt amazing; it was clean, clear, soft and had no tightness whatsoever. Sassou Japan’s Gold Beauty Cleansing Bar may come with a hefty price tag, but from my experience of using specialty beauty bars in the past they can last quite a long time if used with care. And more importantly, it works - and you can’t put a price on that. Check back in a couple of weeks for the next product!

Beauty In Travel Loves

  • It is suitable for all skin types and won’t irritate.
  • It has a lineup of key actions in skin health; it’s anti-inflammatory, improves collagen production, it’s anti-oxidant, and rejuvenating.
  • It truly leaves your skin feeling great, and looking clear and boosted.
  • The bar comes in a lovely container which makes it easy for travellers to take on the road.

Insider Tips

  • For a deeper clean, to remove a high SPF sunscreen or zinc, or prior to a home facial, use the lather generously with an electric facial brush such as a Clarisonic.
  • If you’re skin feels a bit hot using the lather don’t be concerned - this is just heat being drawn to the skin’s surface.

    Japanese Skin Care

I'm a beautitician by trade and reckon you can't beat Japanese skin care even though it's really expensive. I have travelled to Japan a few times to do research and it really is a question of quality and you get what you pay for. I use SK-II myself mostly but will definitely look into this one. Thanks for sharing :)
