Road Test
In spite of my healthy glow, I don’t sunbathe. Not because I don’t like having a tan, but because I am one of many Australian’s who’ve had a skin cancer. Mine appeared out of the blue over 15 years ago, and since then, instead of sitting in the sun by the pool, I get most of my colour from a self-tanning product. And fortunately for me, the new generation of products look and smell better than they used to, and there’s more choice of products depending on your skin type and desired colour. I recently came across another new self tanning range, called Tanologist, created by make-up artist, beauty influencer and ultimate 'TANOLOGIST', Lottie Tomlinson, and the world’s first vegan self tanning brand to be tested and approved by dermatologists; it doesn’t clog pores and is suitable for sensitive skin. I was sent four different products to try, and this is what I’ve discovered. According to the blurb, Tanologist self tanners have a unique transparent formula which means they won’t transfer onto your clothes or sheets, they won’t dry out your skin, and important to some, they also won’t block your pores. The company has a wide range of options, whether you’re after a gradual tan, on the go tan water mist, customisable tan drops or cult foam for an all over tan or glow. There’s truly something for everyone. The vitamin infused Self Tan Mousse was the first product I tried. It comes in four shades - Light, Medium, Dark and Extra Dark - and has a transparent water-to-foam formula designed to hydrate while delivering an easy, all over, flawless bronze. Initially I road tested it on my legs as I was using the Extra Dark shade. The lightweight foam glided onto my skin easily, it had a nice zesty smell, and it dried fast. Within an hour my skin had darkened a bit, and after a few more I looked like I’d just returned from two weeks in the tropics. Fortunately the colour was nice and even, but I had taken my time with it as I knew it would be likely darker than normal. Also, as promised, the colour lasted well for about four to five days, and was gone by about a week, and it faded evenly like a real sun tan would.
