The Space

The Castle is part of the family-owned Lisson Grove, a collection of luxury themed cottages for couples located high on the edge of Mount Tamborine opposite Witches Falls. On arrival The Castle the first thing you see - a medieval styled facade complete with drawbridges, separated by the day spa - but don’t be fooled by appearances. What lies behind the heavy wooden front doors is as stylish and modern-day romantic as it comes. The Castle has it all besides a convenient and idyllic location a world away from the Gold Coast’s famous beaches, including lovely gardens filled with birds in the morning, and plenty of fresh air and quiet.

Where We Stayed

Our home for the night was the Ross Wing, and upon entering you have two choices; turn right to head into the expansive living and kitchen area, or head up stairs to the bedroom and bathroom. The living area is open plan complete with a large kitchen complete with a dining table and two chairs, a large fridge, microwave, a stove top, a dishwasher, and a coffee machine. From there you walk down into the comfy sunken lounge, which has a log fire for cooler nights, plush seating, and is overseen by an elaborate chandelier. At the flick of a switch, this space is transformed into a private cinema with hidden projector, blue ray DVD and screen surround sound (you can grab DVDs from reception). Off to the right via folding doors is a generous indoor plunge pool heated to 32C with an atmospheric backlit waterfall. And from there you can access your own private meditation courtyard for two. The decor overall is a lovely use of black and white, with highly polished tiles, plush cushions, and elegant crested wallpaper. Heading up to the upper level of the wing, you arrive into a large bedroom with a king sized Versace-styled bed complete with an ornate headboard and drapes (the other wing has a four-poster bed), and a roof terrace with two sun beds. The adjoining bathroom has a double shower and gold plated fittings, but the centre piece is a huge oval spa bath which you step up to, and which designed for two.
