Road Test

The human body has a built-in system for moisturising the skin, but as many of us quickly discover it doesn’t always provide enough hydration, especially as you age. This is one of the main reasons why we use external moisturisers on our face and our body. When it comes to moisturising ingredients for facial products, however, squalane is fascinating. Not only does it mimic the skin’s natural oils, making it an excellent moisturiser, but it’s also a natural antioxidant, making it anti-ageing. The new Squalane Facial Oil from The Inkey List is one you can use both in the morning and the evening along with your favourite serum and moisturiser, and it’s made from 100 per cent natural, plant derived squalane oil. If you haven't heard of The Inkey List, it's a new budget friendly cult skin care brand with celebrity fans including Scarlett Johansson; her fabulous complexion was prepped for this year's Golden Globes with one of it's serums. For the rest of us mere mortals, this lovely facial oil does many essential jobs. A key one is that it targets dryness and boosts your skin’s hydration level, but it also softens fine lines and wrinkles, making your skin look smoother, as well as more youthful and healthy. The antioxidants in squalane also fight skin damage and free radicals, both of which can accelerate the ageing process, and it’s a lovely, lightweight, and non-greasy skin oil which protects your skin. To use, simply add a couple to your fingertips and apply to the skin directly, or add it to your moisturiser. I used it for a week including the eye area and was very impressed by the results. It’s an oil you can use all the time if you suffer from dryness or dehydration or simply add it to your routine during the colder, dryer months, or when your skin might be in need of a boost such as when travelling through different climates or if you’re out in the elements. Squalane Facial Oil is just one of a few products I will be road testing from The Inkey List - check back soon for more!
